GEARED TOWARD STUDENT SUCCESS

GEARED TOWARD STUDENT SUCCESS

Throughout the course of the year, the Department of Bioengineering has made great strides in promoting student success and fostering meaningful connections with industry leaders. Among the many events hosted, the department organized industry talks with esteemed companies including Vertex Pharmaceuticals, the U.S. and Drug Administration, GE HealthCare, Intertek and Medtronic.

In addition to these notable industry talks, the department also facilitated a series of workshops centered on career development. This series included an informative interviewing, building LinkedIn profiles and resume building. The Career Development Series culminated with the highly anticipated Evergreen Career Fair, which saw an impressive turnout of 16 companies.

TEXAS INSTRUMENTS BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING AND SCIENCES BUILDING

With the grand opening in fall 2023, the Texas Instruments Biomedical Engineering and Sciences Building began to catalyze a unique partnership between UT Southwestern Medical Center and The University of Texas at Dallas, bringing their biomedical engineering programs together to foster innovative solutions for unmet medical needs.

Thanks to a transformative gift from Texas Instruments Inc. and contributions from the Permanent University Fund of The University of Texas System, this five-story 150,000 square-foot building is situated on the east campus of UT Southwestern Medical Center. It will feature both wet and dry laboratory spaces, as well as designated areas to encourage interdisciplinary interactions. The Biodesign Center will include a spacious assembly and design studio, a state-of-the-art metal fabrication shop and rooms for 3D printing.

Notably, five UT Dallas bioengineering faculty members and their labs will call this building their new home. Prepare to witness the future of biomedical engineering take shape!
