Bioengineering

The three focus areas of the UT Dallas Department of Bioengineering’s Strategic Plan – Academic & Student Success, Research Excellence, and Outreach & Community Engagement – progressed to new heights this year.

We made great strides in hiring the newest generation of faculty in the research areas of applied biophysics, bioimaging, and biomaterials. We are proud to welcome our first CPRIT scholar.

We expanded! The Department of Bioengineering at UT Dallas is officially a two-campus department with the opening of the TI Biomedical Engineering and Sciences Building on the campus of the UT Southwestern Medical Center. This physical space enhances educational opportunities for our students and our research collaborations with researchers and clinicians.

Additionally, we expanded our outreach into and beyond the Dallas community. We celebrate these initiatives in this annual report.
